Hehnke-Smith

September 8, 2013 12:34 AM

Jenny Hehnke and Ryan Smith were married August 10, 2013 at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum, a picturesque, non-profit arboretum and botanical garden on the Willamette River in Eugene, Oregon. They were accompanied by their 18 month old daughter, Meara. The ceremony was held in a beautiful oak grove near the White Oak open air Pavilion where the reception was held. Merriment was the theme of the evening, capturing all who shared in the celebration with wonderful food, drink and dancing into the night.

Jenny is the daughter of Doug & Beverly Hehnke of Santa Barbara. She attended San Marcos High School, then Mississippi State University on a softball scholarship, earning B.A. degrees in Political Science and History. She then moved to the University of Oregon where she earned a Ph.D in Political Science. She is currently an adjunct professor at University of Oregon also working on a Master's in Education.

Ryan grew up in Yellow Springs, Ohio with his mother and step-father, Katherine and Steen Pedersen. His father and step-mother are Richard Currie Smith & Maggie Stedman-Smith. He attended Yellow Springs High School, then Wright State University where he received a BA degree in political science. He also attended University of Oregon earning a Ph.D in Political Science and a Masters in Education in Couples and Family Therapy. He is a Child and Family Therapist for South Lane Mental Health in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Ryan is a devout Ducks fan!

Ed Taylor was the officiator of the ceremony while friends, Heather Figi and Kate Ballantine played lovely violin arrangements. Especially notable was "You are My Sunshine" for daughter, Meara! Speakers were Karen Marie Pedersen and Fran Hehnke.

Kristen Hehnke was the Maid of Honor along with bridesmaids Emily Taylor, Melanie Hidinger, Niki Van Buren, and Ariana Walicke. The Best Man was Mansir Petrie along with groomsmen Joseph Schuermeyer, Clark Bacon, Jason Gettel and Benjamin Crandall. Kristen (Veils & Tails Photography) also took the photos, along with cousin Caitlin Miller, and Niki designed the invitations.

Jenny & Ryan are looking forward to a Honeymoon in Kauai and are currently at home in Eugene, Oregon.
