FAULKNER, Jr., Dewey

FAULKNER, Jr., Dewey

Was born July 30, 1933 in Durham, North Carolina, to the late Vera Parker and Dewey H. Faulkner, Sr. Dewey crossed over from this world and entered eternal life with his Lord and Savior on March 28, 2013, after an extended illness.

Dewey loved all sports including football, baseball, and the L.A. Lakers. His favorite hobby was the remote control, channel surfing for sports keeping up with all events at the same time. He had a keen interest in all current political and social events. He loved his 65 Mustang and daily lunch out at restaurants. One of his favorite restaurants was Cody's. Dewey attended all Blues Festivals including the Monterey Bay Blues Festival where he loved to eat SOS at Grandma's.

Dewey graduated from Hillside High School in Durham, N.C. in 1952. He attended Howard University, Washington, D.C. on an architectural scholarship. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force on Jan 25, 1958 where he performed various assignments during his enlistment and received several certificates, including, the Academic Achievement from the Military Field Service Electronics School. Dewey was honorably discharged on March 30, 1964.

Dewey continued his studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara in Electrical Engineering and received his Bachelor of Science on June 13, 1972. He then began a long and successful work career with Raytheon Corporation working as an engineer until his retirement in 2000.

Dewey married Donna Dansby on June 23, 1963. To this union was born their beloved son, Dewey Faulkner, III, on December 20, 1972.

Dewey was the oldest boy growing up with nine (9) brothers and sisters. He was a strong leader and provided guidance and support to whatever the need. He helped organized the Brotherhood of Santa Barbara where he served as Secretary. Dewey was an strong supporter of the Santa Maria/Lompoc Branch of the NAACP and their annual fashion shows. He was always respectable; easy to relate to; extremely dependable; a devoted husband and provider to his family that extended to his friends and acquaintances.

Dewey transitioned over just a few months shy of 50 (fifty) years of marriage to Donna who is left to cherish his memories. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Billie Joe and Tracy; sisters: Inez Adams and Shirley Payton.

Other beloved family members left to cherish his memories forever are his son, Dewey Faulkner, III (Melika); only grandchild, Dewey IV; three brothers: Walter Meeks (Tina) of Dorchester, MA; Mubashir Akhtb a.k.a. John E. Faulkner (Linda) of Brooklyn, NY and Clyde L. Faulkner of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters: Betty Earl of Durham, N.C.; and Barbara F. Ferrell of Clifton, NJ; aunt, Mildred P. Lyon (Clarence), Durham, NC, and a host of other family members and good friends.

DEWEY WILL BE SORELY MISSED!
