Wanda (PENNY) Frowiss, a life long resident of Santa Barbara County, passed away on, July 22, 2013, of the cancer she fought for 17 years. Wanda was born on June 4, 1948, in Santa Maria, and spent her youth attending schools in Sisquoc and Santa Maria. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Wanda Fae Potter, and sister Tina Hansche. She is survived by her husband, Walter Mathew Frowiss. She was a loving mother to her son Jeremy Frowiss (Sara), and her daughter, Christine Frowiss. She was the proud grandmother of Raymond, Josh and Samatha Frowiss, and Robert Hernandez. She is survived by three brothers, Joe Potter (Rita), Jeffrey Potter (Rosie) and Jimmy Potter, her sister-in-law, June Petersen (David), and nieces and nephews, Heather, Brian, and Ginnie Hansche. She went to Washington State as part of the Job Corps Program where she received her CNA degree. Wanda touched a lot of lives during her 35-year career as CNA - and later technical assistant - in various medical facilities in Santa Maria and Santa Barbara. Many remember her kindness in treating them with dignity and consideration. She had a great sense of humor and loved jokes. She enjoyed talking to people and always had a smile and a kind word to share. Wanda loved birds and spent many joyful hours watching their antics at feeders in her back yard. She shared her home with many precious dog companions over the years. She loved to garden and coaxed beautiful blooms and vegetables to sprout in response to her "green thumb." She was a fantastic cook who prepared delicious meals for her family and friends. She liked camping and fishing and trips in the family?s motor home. She will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Goleta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Santa Barbara Humane Society.
