He received his BS degree from Hamilton College, Clinton, New York where he was Phi Beta Kappa. Received his Medical Degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. While a third year medical student, he met a beautiful nurse, Elizabeth Bruner, and a few months later married her. A marriage that lasted almost 60 years, ending with Betty's death in 2002.
In 1949, he came to Santa Barbara to practice Radiology with the Santa Barbara Clinic. In 1970, he went into private practice with Donald Hebert, MD until his retirement in 1983. Bob was a member of several Radiology and Medical organizations. He was the first physician to perform mammography in Santa Barbara. He was also one of the first physicians in Santa Barbara to give chemotherapy to a cancer patient.
He is survived by his three children, Lynn Eichert, Glenn Williams, and Barbara Hall; his four grand children, Cathy Gentry, Michelle Eichert, Fletcher Hall, and Jenna Hall and his great grandchildren Ashley and Tanner.
In accordance with his wishes there will be no memorial services. Please send any remembrances to Direct Relief International or Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara.
The family wishes to thank Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care, Dr. David Gillon, and a special thank you to his lovely lady, Joanne Morley, who made his last years so happy.
Most of all, he will be remembered as someone who always treated everyone with kindness and respect, and was the best example of what a person should aspire to be. Rest in peace, Dad. You were and always will be, the best part of "us". We love you and miss you terribly.
