Gladys A. Lugo age 91, of Townsend, WI, passed away due to heart failure on August 29, 2013 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Gladys was born on June 28, 1922 in Wausau, WI to Wallace and Martha (Felieo) Bohn. She was raised in Wisconsin and moved to California during WWII where she worked in the aircraft industry. In 1947 Gladys married Albert Lugo, a native Santa Barbarian. She and Albert lived in Santa Barbara for twenty-three years where they raised their two children, Gregory and Lelahvon. Gladys was active in many Santa Barbara community events including president of the Washington Elementary PTA and La Fiesta.
In 1970, Albert retired and moved the family to Townsend, WI. After Albert's death in 1979, Gladys enjoyed spending winters with friends in Mission, Texas and later with her son in Los Osos, California. She traveled extensively in the western United States, observing nature and was a voracious reader throughout her life. Gladys lived independently in Townsend until August 22, 2013 when lightening struck her house, encouraging her to move in with her daughter in Menomonie, WI.
Gladys is preceded in death by her husband Albert Lugo, sister Joyce Danninger and brother James Bohn. Gladys is survived by her son Gregory (Mary) Lugo of Los Osos, CA and daughter Lelahvon Lugo of Menomonie, WI.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 9th at Suminski Weber Hill Funeral Home, 1768 Oconto Avenue, Wabeno WI 54566. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Gladys' name to the Mono Lake Committee, P.O. Box 29, Lee Vining, CA 93541.
