HOOD, Diana Elaine (Hurley) (Beam)
September 8, 2013 12:37 AM
74, of Honolulu, Hawaii, a retired Secretary & Account Administrator in the Insurance Industry, died at home in Hawaii Kai on Oahu, Hawaii, with her Daughter & Son-In-Law by her side, on Monday, August 12, 2013.
She was born in Santa Barbara, California, Oct. 13, 1938, to James ?Jimmy? Sylvester Hurley (Electrician) & Eileen Helen Hurley (House Wife).
Diana graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1956 & Woodbury College in 1958. She was a member of Sigma Iota Chi Sorority & was crowned with the title of ?Miss Woodbury? 1958.
Diana lived in Hawaii since 1961. On Mothers' Day 1972, The Moorings #23 became Diana & Oren's forever home. This was the beginning of many wonderful years of boating aboard the ?DI-EL? with the Hawaii Kai Game Fishing Club, Coast Guard Auxiliary, & Hawaii Kai Yacht Club. There were many weekends of fishing, cruisin', partying, and participating & winning several Marina Christmas Boat Parades.
Diana enjoyed going out to the Movies on Saturday Nights with Daughter Lisa & watching Netflix Movies at home on Sunday Nights. She also enjoyed watching her favorite Shows on TV during the week, including watching Golf on TV on weekends. Occasionally there was a Food & Wine Event, a Play, a Concert, or a Celebration with friends. Diana really enjoyed reading books, especially after retiring in 2010; something she used to only have time for when relaxing on vacations.
Holidays were always important to Diana through the years, even dates that were not really Holidays, such as St. Patrick's Day. She always decorated & always celebrated. Diana & Lisa enjoyed traveling together, especially on Cruise Vacations. D&L's last vacation together, however, was actually on land to Denver, Colorado, for a Family Wedding in May 2012. How fortunate to be able to spend time with almost everyone on Diana's Family Tree. That was followed by several days of relaxing & sightseeing in Lake Tahoe.
She was predeceased by Husband Oren Ellis Hood in 1999.
She is survived by Daughter Lisa Diana Beam Kumbroch & Son-In-Law Rainer Kumbroch of Honolulu, Hawaii; Sister Jeanette Davis & Brother-In-Law Richard Davis of Henderson, Nevada; Niece Christie Latour of Apple Valley, California; other Nieces & Nephews, Cousins, and In-Laws.
