63, surrounded by her family and loved ones, died peacefully at her home in Santa Barbara, CA on September 12, 2013. Armida was born on February 5, 1950 in El Refugio, Municipio de Colotl n, Jalisco, Mexico. She lived in Jalisco, Mexico from 1950-1973 and has been a resident of Santa Barbara for 40 years.
Armida was a homemaker for most of her life who dedicated her time, love and compassion for her family and in particular, for her beloved daughters. She was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She enjoyed cooking and was known as the life of the party. She was especially fond of making fiesta and ballet folklorico outfits for her girls and was very involved in their education by participating in numerous school activities. She looked forward every December to trips that the family would take to Morelia, Michoac n. Armida loved music and her favorite artist was Vicente Fernandez, who she was privileged to see in concert. She loved watching her novelas. One of Armida's dreams was to see her girls obtain a university education. You can imagine her pride in the realization that all of her girls have brought this dream to fruition. She volunteered in the classroom at Adelante Charter School a dual language immersion school in Santa Barbara, CA where her daughter, Erika, is an elementary teacher.
Armida is survived by her beloved husband of 28 years, José Francisco Santillan; daughters, Erika Ruiz Santillan (José Luis), Karina Santillan, and Jessica Santillan; her parents, Adolfo and Alicia Robles; brothers, José Luis Robles (Elida), Armando Robles (Ana), Adolfo Robles, Jr., (Veronica); sisters, Nohemi Chavez, Galinda Celaya (Jesus), Betty Robles, Mariela Robles, Marta Lara (Antonio); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Armida had a natural beauty filled with incredible kindness. She possessed an infectious laughter that will never be forgotten.
The Rosary Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 19, 10:00 a.m., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. The Interment Service will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
