JOHNSON, Craig E

September 22, 2013 12:05 AM

Passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 13, 2013, at the age of 53, surrounded by the love of family and friends. After an almost four-year battle with kidney cancer, he is now at peace and without pain.

Although he was born in Nebraska, he spent almost his entire life in Santa Barbara and will always be considered a Santa Barbara local.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine "Betty", and Zongar, as well as his older brother Zonger "Bub" (Linda).

Craig is survived by his loving wife Teré "Diva", siblings Edwin (Rita), Wendy (Guenter), Kim (Kathleen), as well as a plethora of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Craig will most be remembered for his sarcastic wit, frugal nature, and unyielding sense of loyalty to those he cared for. He will be missed by all those fortunate enough to be connected to him in life.

To my darling Craig,

Thank you for loving me so much that I can't remember what it is like not to be cherished. As my partner, you gave me the gift of your encouragement, honesty and loyalty. Only you could get away with telling me - while shopping (with your outside voice) - that a pair of shorts made my butt look big, and make me melt in a puddle of laughter while observers tried to contain their shock. This is not goodbye, nor is it see you later, for you will always be in my heart. Your loving wife, Diva

A shindig in Craig's honor will be held 11:00-3:00 pm on Saturday, September 28th at Mulligans Café, located at 350 Mc Caw Ave. In lieu flowers, contributions may be sent to the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara (http://www.ccsb.org) to sponsor Diva's participation in the upcoming 5K in honor of Craig.
