JORDAN, Kathleen Andrea (nee Murphy)
September 27, 2013 6:18 AM
Passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2013. She was 63 years old. Kathy was born in Santa Barbara, California to William and Gertrude Jones Murphy. Mr. Murphy was the leading caterer in Santa Barbara, and Kathy is the youngest of the four Murphy girls -- Harriet Elaine, Willette Jean and Margaret Ann.
Because of their father's catering business, during the Murphy girls' formative years, Kathy and her sisters grew up around food sharing a special love for the dining experience. If you wanted to bring a big smile to Kathy's face, just mention lobster, her particular favorite.
After growing up in Santa Barbara, Kathy moved to Los Angeles during her high school years to experience the music culture that was her passion. There, Kathy met and married Leroy "Lonnie" Jordan, keyboardist for the group "War" and assisted the group during their rise to fame. In 1973, Kathy gave birth to their only child, Leroy Lonnie Jordan Jr.
Turning her professional interests in a different direction, Kathy began an association with G2SecureStaff -- a leading provider of aviation staffing and security needs -- in an entry-level position, and quickly rose through the ranks and helped the company to achieve substantial growth. She was consumed by her commitment to G2 and spent most of her waking hours at the LAX or flying around the country to check company operations and visit customers. During the 25 years Kathy spent at G2, she held numerous positions including Regional Director, Station Manager and Director of Sales and Marketing.
Kathy is survived by her son, Lonnie, and her three older sisters, Harriet Murphy Parks, Willette Murphy Klausner and her husband Manny, and Margaret Ann Murphy; her two nieces, Robin Parks and Dawn Parks; three nephews, Douglas Parks, Gregory Parks and his daughter, Giana, and Michael Parks, his wife, Misheline, and their son, Mckenzie.
A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at 10 am on September 28, 2013 at Angelus Funeral Home, 3875 South Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90008, (323) 296-6666.
Interment will take place at Santa Barbara Cemetery, 901 Channel Drive, Santa Barbara 93108, Monday, September 30 at 11:00 AM.
