An amazing spirit left us earlier this month. Betty Amidon Davis was a gift to us from the universe, who knew that our purpose on this earth was to help, support, and love one another. She was welcoming, warm, supportive, curious, considerate, loving, comfortable, unpretentious, and full of common sense.
She served in the SPARs (women's Coast Guard) during WWII, spent many years as an elder and a deacon in the Presbyterian church, volunteered as a driver for meals on wheels, worked in the PTA and as scout leaders for her children, and donated time and talent to many organizations. She also was a long-term member of the Carpinteria Quilters and the aqua-aerobics group at the Goleta Valley Athletic Club. Her lovely contralto voice contributed to church choirs for many years before she joined her family during the services.
Betty was married 63 years to the former Howard Wesley Davis, and is survived by her four children and their spouses, two grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
The family is honored to have her beloved brother, Reverend Doctor Donald Amidon coming to help administer her Memorial service. Because of his schedule, that service will be delayed until Saturday, December 28th, at 1:30 PM, at the Goleta Presbyterian Church, with a reception to follow. All who knew her are welcome to attend.
