McLENNAN, SHAD R.

Gibsonville, NC - Mr. Shad R. McLennan, 37, was called home by his heavenly Father on Monday, July 24, 2006 following a long illness. Born May 20, 1969 in Santa Barbara, California, he called Carpinteria his home for many years. Shad was a product of California schools, but graduated Magna Cum Laude from Johnson & Wales University of Charleston, South Carolina in 1999 with a degree in Culinary Arts. Prior to his becoming disabled, he was employed as an Executive Chef by Aramark Corporation at the General Electric Nuclear Facility in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Shad was the son of Donald and Carol McLennan of Gibsonville, who survive him. His only sibling Shannon preceded him in death in 1989. Shad's passing is also deeply mourned by his nephew Christopher, who resides with the McLennans.
No North Carolina vigil or wake service will be conducted for Shad. However, a Mass of Creation will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 328 West Davis Street, Burlington. The family will greet friends at their residence immediately following the Mass. Interment will be held at the Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura, California on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 11:00 AM California friends are invited to participate in the brief memorial service.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Rich and Thompson Funeral Home of Burlington, North Carolina. In Shad's memory, the family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, friends and colleagues gift the Alamance County Hospice Home, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
