Sheriff seeks jail tax

Sheriff Bill Brown is asking the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors to place a one-half cent sales tax on the November ballot to pay for construction and operation of a North County Jail and other alternative incarceration programs recommended by a blue ribbon commission on jail crowding.
