Mission – The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing local youth with a safe, attractive environment in which they can pursue affordable professionally-directed programs designed to encourage educational growth, cultural enrichment, athletic training and character development. Through these programs, we strive to provide our members with the tools they need to become healthy, informed, and responsible citizens of the local community.

History - The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara, Inc. has been serving Santa Barbara’s youth since 1938. In addition, Boys & Girls Clubs around the country will celebrate 100 years in 2006. There is a lot to celebrate as the Club is proud of its members; past, present & future!

Programs - Programs at the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara, Inc. fall under Five Core areas – Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.

The Homework & Computer Clubs help members stay on top of their school work and learn the latest technology.

The Art Department offers visual arts workshops after-school, but also offers opportunities to participate in community events, as well as low cost music & dance lessons.

Gender specific programs help youth work through issues concerning growing up and discuss what is on their minds today.

In addition to after-school recreational activities the Club offers low-cost Sports Leagues which present opportunities to build character and introduce sports to members and future members (leagues are offered to youth age 3 – 11).

This year during the summer the Club will provide morning session in the areas of science, computers, arts and athletics. The goal is to keep our members minds sharp during the summer break.

The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara Inc. strives to be a unique youth development organization in the area partnering with other local organizations to bring the most opportunities to members. Staff members are youth development professionals who are hired for their engaging, energetic and enthusiastic delivery of programmatic experiences for members. We want our members to come to the Club each day, attracted by the programs and the staff that lead them and to leave having tried something new.

Membership - It is easy to become a member! Membership is open to all youth between the ages of 7 and 18. The membership fee is $40 per year. This provides access to the facility Monday through Friday after school. Each afternoon programs offer many opportunities to each member. Additional fees may be charged for Club vacation and summer programs, as well as programs outside the core areas. However, our goal is to always keep costs associated with Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara Inc. as low as possible so as to not exclude anyone based on economic circumstances. Scholarships are also available to those most in need.
