MARSHA RUBENSTEIN PHOTO
You don't have to be Jewish to get a taste of Federation! Jewish Federation and Jewish Family Service programs are for people of all ages, religions, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara has served the Santa Barbara community for more than 31 years. In the spirit of the Jewish values of charity and justice, Federation raises money to support local needs and to provide rescue and relief for people in crisis around the world. At the Bronfman Family Jewish Community Center (BFJCC), Federation offers programs and services for the entire Santa Barbara community.

  • Portraits of Survival:
Life Journeys During the Holocaust and Beyond

Honoring Santa Barbara's survivors and refugees of the Holocaust, this permanent exhibit of contemporary photographic portraits and biographical histories is an educational resource and transformative learning experience. The exhibit is open to all during business hours; call to arrange docent-led group tours that include first-person accounts, multimedia experiences and educational discussions. (In cooperation with UCSB and underwritten by Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, the Karuna Foundation and numerous individual donors.)

  • Art at the JCC
Exhibits local and world-renowned artists. "Native American Contemporary Art" opens September 25 and runs until December 30, 2005. Open to the public free of charge.

  • Jewish Family Service (JFS)
Counseling by licensed professionals for all ages and backgrounds at a sliding scale fee, support groups, family life education.

Federation's Schmooze Room and other programs offer people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to enjoy good food, friends and entertainment.

  • "Schmooze Room"
A weekly community café with music, food, conversation and intergenerational programming.

  • Volunteer Program

  • Youth Programs
Community Connections provides training and experiences that promote values of caring for others while having fun and earning community service hours. Adventure trips, trainings and retreats give teens experiential learning to develop a sense of leadership and responsibility to acquire skills in decision-making and relationship building.
