At the Heart of Home Health and Hospice Care
Home Health & Hospice
Services that keep people at
home, independent and treated
with dignity are the heart of
Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care,
formerly known as the Visiting
Nurse Association.
Over 30,000 Visits by dedicated
Health Professionals are made
each year to homes in Santa
Barbara, Goleta and Carpinteria.
Care is provided for all who are sick,
injured, disabled or dying who
qualify for home health or hospice
services.
Home Care provides Skilled
Nursing Services to the homebound
who want to remain comfortable
in their homes. Social workers
and nursing staff work closely with
patients and their families to create
and maintain a supportive in-home
care system. The goal is to ensure
the patient's safety and comfort,
as well as to address the needs of
their caregivers.
Physical, Speech &
Occupational
Therapy Services are
available to injured and
disabled individuals
who are homebound,
including those recovering
from orthopedic
surgeries and strokes.
VNHC offers a variety of services, including free equipment loan, to help the frail elderly remain independent in their homes.

Hospice Care at Home is
provided by a team of nurses,
home health aides, social workers,
chaplains, a physician and over 100
trained volunteers. Services and
support are extended to the
terminally ill as well as the entire
family.
Serenity House provides 24-hour
care in a home-like, residential
setting. Medical, social, emotional
and spiritual support are offered to
those patients seeking comfort
and dignity during the last days of
their life.
Visiting Care & Companions
provides personal care and assistance
at home. This program
responds to the need for additional
non-medical support at home to
continue recovery and to help the
frail elderly remain independent in
their own homes.
In-Home Respite and Bath Care
is offered by certified nursing
assistants and home health aides
to help families and allow clients to
remain self-sufficient. Charity care
is provided thanks to grants from
the United Way and the Area
Agency on Aging, as well as individual
donations from the community.
Our deepest thanks to our dedicated staff, volunteers, friends and supporters who sustain our vital community mission.

The Community Loan Closet
provides free medical equipment to
the frail and disabled, supported
entirely by private gifts and grants.
The Loan Closet is open Monday-
Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
Community Education is another
vital part of Visiting Nurse &
Hospice Care. Adult Children of
Aging Parents, The
Art of Caregiving, and
a Men’s Health Series
are just a few of the
recent workshops and
classes offered free to
the community. Call
