Quarterbacks Casey Cathcart of St. Joseph High, left, and Kellen
Moriarty of Dos Pueblos are both among the top performers in
the area who will be vying for all-county MVP honors. Cathcart
threw for more than 1,400 yards and led the Knights to the CIF
Division 10 semifinals, while Moriarty compiled 2,381 yards
and 20 touchdowns last year and has been recruited by top colleges.
They represent the quality of athletes that can be found at
both ends of Santa Barbara County. News-Press staff writer Mike
Traphagen previews the 2004 prep football season in his Campaign
Notes. The cover is a photo illustration created by News-Press
