Where you have your wedding should complete your vision of the
perfect day, while complementing your tastes and personalities.
The first step to finding this paradise is for you and your
fiancé to determine what type of wedding you want. Will it
be formal, casual, indoor, outdoor, big or small? It is important
that you are in complete agreement.
- Decide what kind and how large a wedding you want.
- Determine your budget.
- Decide where: your hometown, his hometown, the city you both
work in, or somewhere in between.
- Ask friends and family for venue recommendations.
- To find places that offer weddings in a particular city, the
Internet is a great resource. Sites like www.weddinglocation.com
let you search geographically.
- If you have a particular place in mind, like a hotel, contact
their catering department to find out if the date you have set
for your wedding is available. Make an appointment to discuss
arrangements.
- List of all the things you want for your wedding and questions
you want to ask the location. Sample lists are in my book, Planning
a Wedding to Remember.
- Visit the locations you are considering and meet with their
catering staff (if they have one) to make sure you are comfortable
with the level of service they can provide for the wedding you
want.
