Former Pacific Pride Foundation Executive Director Kristin Flickinger is about to get really famous — as a cast member of CBS’ hit show “Survivor.”

Flickinger announced her status on Instagram and is getting a ton of media attention. After Pacific Pride, Flickinger opened her own consulting firm. The show doesn’t begin until Sept. 23, but anyone who has met Flickinger expects her to be a strong contender to win the show.

Flickinger says in her Instagram video that she grew up queer in Idaho. She went to law school to serve her community. She decided to go into nonprofits and for the past 25 years has worked in the LGBTQ+ community.

She says she has been trying to get on “Survivor” for more than two decades and that the show has “called her” since she saw the first episode.

“I am going to show up with everything I possibly can and have the most fun,” Flickinger says.

Santa Barbara has a long history of contestants who have appeared on reality TV shows. The great Jackson Gillies appeared on “American Idol.” Jo Stevens was attending Santa Barbara City College when she was on MTV’s “The Real World.”

Kelsey Buttitta, the Santa Barbara County public information officer, and Joey Buttitta, a reporter, won the “Amazing Race” a few years ago.
