Boo at the Zoo is bigger than ever this year, expanding for the first time to include daytime Halloween activities, alongside three nights of family-friendly after-dark fun and a brand-new 21+ Adult Night. Costumes are encouraged!

DAYTIME BOO

October 16–31 | 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

For the first time, Boo at the Zoo will offer Halloween activities during regular Zoo hours. Daytime festivities include a Halloween-themed scavenger hunt with a prize, daily costume contests and parades, Halloween story time with the Zoo’s performance team, a candy station, hay maze and more. Face painting will also be available for an additional charge.

Cost: Daytime Boo activities are included with regular Zoo admission or Membership.

NIGHTTIME BOO

October 23–25 | 5–8 p.m.

The Zoo’s traditional after-dark Boo at the Zoo returns for three nights of family Halloween fun, featuring safe, traffic-free trick-or-treating, a costume contest, DJ and dance floor, animal encounters, bounce houses and inflatable slides, train rides, photo booth, rock wall, kids’ hay maze, spooky stories, s’mores by the campfire and more.

Cost: Separate event ticket required; not included with regular daytime Zoo admission. Santa Barbara Zoo Members receive $5 off general admission ticket prices for the special event.

ADULT NIGHT

October 22 | 6–10 p.m. | Ages 21+

New this year, the Zoo will host its first-ever Adult Night, a Halloween celebration designed exclusively for guests 21 and older. The evening will feature a DJ and dance floor, animal encounters, cocktails, train rides, photo booth, complimentary beer and wine tastings, a costume contest and more.

Cost: Separate event ticket required; not included with regular daytime Zoo admission. Santa Barbara Zoo Members receive $5 off general admission ticket prices for the special event.

Schedule note: The Zoo will close at 3:30 p.m. October 22–25 and reopen for the evening events. Separate admission is required for daytime and nighttime entry. Adults may not wear full-face masks or full-face paint. Realistic weapons are not allowed.
