The southbound lanes of Highway 101 in Santa Barbara remain closed in Montecito after an early morning crash involving a semi truck and other vehicles caused a major fluid spill, according to CalTrans.

There is no estimated time for re-opening.

The crash sparked early morning traffic havoc in an area that is currently under construction for Highway 101 expansion.

The California Highway Patrol reported the crash at 1:40 a.m.

Traffic from Highway 101 was being diverted at San Ysidro Road.
