A 2.7 magnitude earthquake was detected about 4 miles southeast of Goleta at a depth of 5 miles.

The United States Geographical Survey and the California Integrated Seismic Network reported the quake at 8:40 a.m.

The shake was initially marked as a 2.7 magnitude earthquake but was soon downgraded to a 2.69 upon review. 

Thirty nine people reported feeling the quake to the United States Geographical Survey as of 9:40 a.m., Monday morning.

Earthquakes around a 2.5 magnitude can usually be felt but rarely cause any damage. No tsunami warning was issued.
