Often during the week my colleague Tom Schultz and I break out into conversation about the days of the “old News-Press.” It’s quite entertaining, so much so that we are thinking of doing a podcast and just riff on our memories.

Truth be told, both of us have forgotten a lot, so hearing each other talk triggers moments we may have never remembered. It’s good therapy. But the more things change, the more they stay the same. Schultz 22 years ago today was covering a Goleta City Council debate.

These days he’s mostly covering the 5th District Santa Barbara County Supervisors contest. It’s all the same though. The names and faces change in the elections, but the reporters always remain.
