Good morning, Santa Barbara ☀️
Here’s what we have for you today:
- Kristen Sneddon gains votes in new election results, tightening gap with Eric Friedman
- Business, nonprofit and government leaders reflect on the economy at annual State of the County summit
- Stabbing at Coal Oil Point Reserve near Isla Vista
News-Press wins on election night

- A few of the election outcomes are razor thin — so we can’t say definitely yet who will be the next mayor of Santa Barbara. Kristen Sneddon gained some votes in her bid for Santa Barbara mayor. Eric Friedman leads by 312 votes, as of this writing.
We keep hearing amazing things about our Election Night coverage and our Election Results page. We were grateful to see the candidates sharing on social media that they were victorious — and that they chose to share our “Race called by News-Press” visual.
Our entire team deserves the credit for hustling to get the stories and information out quickly and we are humbled and honored that you all recognized that.
This is not me spinning a narrative to build a brand. These are facts.
Check the newspress.com often for any election updates. The next drop is expected Tuesday.
