The small, but mighty team at the Santa Barbara News-Press was everywhere on Tuesday. Tom Schultz started his day in Solvang as workers launched a strike for higher wages, then headed to Santa Maria to cover multiple stories at the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors.
In Santa Barbara, reporter Aston Smith covered the City Council meeting and stayed ahead on an issue he has led reporting on—controversial surveillance cameras in the city. Sofia Wallace also covered an item at the council meeting; look for that story on Wednesday.
News-Press reporter Kaitlin Sweeney went to the Goleta City Council meeting to cover the debate over a gun shop near a day care center.
News-Press breaking news reporter Angel Corzo wrote three stories—about a cold case that re-opened, a man who died in the Santa Barbara County Jail, and then he spoke to residents of Beach City who were victimized by a rash of burglaries over the weekend.
And News-Press education reporter Julianna Lozada spent her evening at the Santa Barbara Unified School District Board of Trustees covering a meeting that went late. Look for her coverage at newspress.com later today.
