Good morning!
We hope you will join us from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the CEC’s Environmental Hub, 1219 State St., for a dynamic conversation with author Susan Page.
It’s the first of several events the News-Press is working on this year. A Q&A with Page, the author of “The Queen and Her Presidents,” will be led by retired Santa Barbara journalist and former executive editor of the Santa Barbara News-Press Jerry Roberts.
We’re delighted this event is co-sponsored by Voice Magazine and the Santa Barbara Literary Festival.
Check out the event, and feel free to join me upstairs for a quick tour of our newsroom, which is located on the second floor of the CEC Hub across from the Granada Theatre. Thanks to many of you in the community who donated office furniture, we have been able to create a newsroom with a dozen desks.
The timing of the donations is perfect, as we welcome a cohort of paid interns this summer, as well as the hiring of three new reporters, whose names we’ll announce soon. By the end of the year, our goal is to have six full-time reporters in the newsroom.
Thank you for supporting the News-Press in the many ways you do. We’re delighted to be your daily news source and humbled by your support.
