At the Santa Barbara News-Press, we’re working to inform, connect and reflect our community — and for Local News Day today, we’re inviting you to be part of it.

If you give $100 or more on April 9-10, we’ll send you an embroidered “support local news” T-shirt.

As a nonprofit news organization run by locals, we are focused on providing the community with the news and information you need to be a fully engaged and participatory member of society.

Today is a day to support your local journalists and organizations. I was born at Goleta Valley Hospital (now Cottage) attended five different elementary schools, graduated from Dos Pueblos High School and Santa Barbara City College. I grew up reading the Santa Barbara News-Press and interned at the newspaper when I was 20 years old.

This newsroom is the fabric of the community. Reborn as a nonprofit, we are here to serve you. Below you will see a couple of upcoming News-Press events, including a book talk with author Susan Page, as well as morning coffee talk with myself and general manager Will Belfiore.

These are two of several big events we have planned throughout 2026. Our goal is to bring you smart, entertaining events that unite the community and spotlight the amazing things we all do that make our county so desirable. We’re positive and hopeful and focused on solutions.

So support local, nonprofit journalism and be part of the team that is working hard to celebate you and this place we call home.
