After Silvergreens’ recent soft opening, which brought healthy food options to State Street, the business is now temporarily closed.
Silvergreens, located 1001 State St., inside the Amazon building, opened on June 13.
However, right after its grand opening, owner Jay Ferro informed the News-Press that in just a few days, the business experienced mechanical problems.
“This is one of the reasons why you have a soft opening,” Ferro said. “So if you have these little issues that you weren’t thinking could come about, you’re able to try and resolve them.”
Ferro said problems with the equipment have forced the temporary closure.
Since the equipment issues, Ferro said he’s been actively working on getting everything fixed.
In the meantime, customers can look at the menu online through the Silvergreens website for order pickup.
“People can go online and order the food; they can still do that,” Ferro said.
Despite the mechanical problems the business has been dealing with, the meals are meant for grab-and-go. Lately, ordering online has helped with that.
“The Silvergreens food is really intended to be, you know healthy, flavorful, fresh meals on the go,” Ferro said.
He hopes to be back open within a week to two weeks, where Silvergreens will officially resume operation.
Silvergreens was originally located in Isla Vista before the COIVD-19 pandemic, to selling Silvergreens food at the Santa Barbara Aiport, Silvergreens was ready to open its cafe downtown.
