An Amtrak passenger train struck and killed a man Sunday night, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.

The crash happened about 7:30 p.m. on the railroad tracks near Por Lar Mar Circle, authorities said.

The train was traveling south.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The name of the decedent is being withheld pending next of kin notification,” Lt. Ethan Ragsdale said in a statement. “No foul play is suspected at this time, and this incident is currently under investigation.”
