Alexandra “Xy” VanAntwerp, Planning Commissioner for Carpinteria City Council, filed her candidate forms and took the candidate oath for City Council representative of District 5 on Thursday, August 6 at Carpinteria City Hall with Al Clark, retiring City Council representative of District 5 looking on.
Xy said, “One of the themes I’m talking about throughout this campaign is fiscal sustainability. Communities that value and protect their natural environment have some of the strongest economies, and that’s certainly true in Carpinteria. Our bluffs, salt marsh, beaches, farmland and seal sanctuary aren’t just things we’re proud of—they’re why people want to live here, visit here and invest here. Protecting what makes Carpinteria special is one of the smartest investments we can make in our future.”
