Update 9:34 p.m.

The Drum Fire burning south of Los Alamos Cemetery on Wednesday evening was 20% contained at 9 p.m., according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The blaze had consumed 40 acres of brush between Highways 101 and 246.

Update 7:54 p.m.

The Drum Fire grew to 40 acres with 5% of the blaze contained at 7:45 p.m., authorities said.

“Firefighting crews continue working to suppress the fire by building and strengthening containment lines around the perimeter while extinguishing hotspots,” CalFire officials said in a statement.

No structures were damaged, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

A vegetation fire broke out on Drum Canyon Road, south of Los Alamos Cemetery Wednesday evening.

The fire is located between Highway 101 and Highway 246. 

Officials responded to the fire at about 5:36 p.m.

According to a post from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department’s X account, the fire had spread to 20 acres as of 6:30 p.m.

Roads in the area have also been closed.
