Police who responded to the scene at 6:15 p.m. said the driver and the child, who was riding in a car seat, were taken by paramedics to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for evaluation.
Santa Barbara police arrested the driver, Ashley Marie Benson, 40, of Santa Barbara, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Lt. Ethan Ragsdale.
Benson was expected to be booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on felony DUI and felony child endangerment charges with bail set at $100,000, Ragsdale said.

A late model Land Rover Discovery SUV rolled onto its side in downtown Santa Barbara Monday, as commuters drove home during the evening rush hour.
No serious injuries were reported as city police officers and firefighters responded to the scene shortly after 6 p.m. on the one-way 1700 block of Chapala Street.
Residents and passersby described hearing a loud bang.
Officials said the vehicle, which had two occupants including a child, apparently sideswiped two pickup trucks parked halfway up the block on the left side before rolling.
“That’s all we know so far,” said Santa Barbara Police Sgt. Edward Kasper, adding it was unclear if alcohol, drugs or other factors contributed to the crash.
