A Santa Barbara man was arrested Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in 2025.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office arrested Saul Estrada Munoz, 27, on the 300 -block of West Arrellaga Street, according to Raquel Zick, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office.
Munoz was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on a $1 million bail.
Munoz allegedly sexually assaulted the minor at knifepoint near Casitas Pass Road and Via Real in Carpinteria.
The victim reported the incident to the Sheriff’s Office in March 2025.
Detectives collected evidence for DNA analysis following the incident. The results led officials to later obtain a Ramey warrant for Munoz.
He was arrested on suspicion of forcible rape, kidnapping to commit rape and making criminial threats. The arrest warrant for Munoz also alleged he used a deadly weapon during the sexual assault.
