Washington Elementary School Principal Arielle Curry has been placed on administrative leave, as of Monday morning.
Santa Barbara Unified School District spokesperson Ed Zuchelli told the News-Press that in the meantime, Executive Director of Elementary Denise Alvarado will oversee daily campus operations to ensure support for students and staff.
Zuchelli did not disclose the reason Curry was put on leave.
Curry became principal of Washington Elementary School in 2022. She was previously the principal of Santa Barbara Junior High School.
Washington Elementary is on Santa Barbara’s Mesa.
