This cat is just getting started and has already burned through one of its nine lives.

The tiny furball has CHP officer Nathaniel Foster to thank for its survival.

Foster spotted the cat earlier this week in the slow lane on Highway 101 in Summerland.

“A dangerous place for this little traveler,” according to a CHP news release on X.

When foster saw the cat he stopped traffic and rescued the kitten before it could have been hit.

“With the assistance of a helpful member of the public, the cat was brought to our office before being transported to Santa Barbara County Animal Services for safekeeping,” according to the CHP.

The CHP named the cat “Lucky,” for obvious reasons.

According to the news release, the cat is still looking for a lap to purr on. Santa Barbara County Animal Services has not found that kitten’s owner.

The CHP encourages people to contact the Santa Barbara County Animal Services at 5473 Overpass Road in Goleta, (833) 422-8413, if they know who the cat belongs to.

“Let’s help Lucky find her way back home,” the news release states.
