Santa Barbara, CA – The Downtown Santa Barbara Improvement Association (DSBIA) is excited to announce the winners of the 2026 Annual Downtown Halloween Decor Contest! Last Friday, DSBIA staff and volunteer judges explored the festive decorations throughout downtown and selected three standout businesses for their exceptional creativity and Halloween spirit:
1st Place was awarded to 33 Jewels (814 State Street). Owner Diane Garmendia impressed judges with an incredibly original display that transformed the jewelry store into a mysterious alchemist’s laboratory. Complete with bubbling potions, glowing experiments, colorful gemstones, antique books, and intricate scientific curiosities, the elaborate scene blended magic, mystery, and jewelry into a one-of-a-kind Halloween experience.
2nd Place was awarded to The Red Piano (519 State Street). Known for going all out for Halloween, The Red Piano delivered another frightfully impressive display. Giant spiders, hanging skeletons, eerie figures, and oversized grim reapers took over the venue, while cobwebs, and dramatic lighting created a haunting atmosphere both inside and out.

3rd Place was awarded to Santa Barbara Pizza House (515 State Street). Bringing a playful twist to Halloween, the restaurant welcomed visitors with towering, glowing-eyed skeletons, giant spiders, and plenty of cobwebs. One particularly memorable scene featured a skeleton enjoying a pizza at a spooky dinner table, perfectly combining the restaurant’s personality with the Halloween spirit.

Each winner received a framed certificate in recognition of their creativity and effort.
We also want to recognize the following businesses for their spirited participation:
Runners-Up:
- 4th Place: Mizza (1112 State Street)
- 5th Place: Art & Soul (1323 State Street)
- 6th Place: The Unity Gift Shoppe (1209 State Street)
DSBIA extends a special thank you to all participating businesses for their creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication to making Downtown Santa Barbara a festive destination for the Halloween season.
